About Us — The Pong Home
Hello from Bali! 🌴
We are William and Cynthia Chadwick, a couple of animal lovers who found our home and purpose in Bali thanks to our furry companions. William is originally from the United States, and Cynthia is half Balinese and half Javanese, born and raised on this beautiful island.
Our journey together began in 2015 when William moved to Bali from South Korea. We met in August that year — William was staying in Ubud, and Cynthia lived in Denpasar. Cynthia, an animal lover since childhood, grew up caring for cats from the age of 8. William, on the other hand, had a parrot as a kid but always had a soft spot for furry friends.
It all started with two curious tabby cats. While William was staying at a homestay in Ubud, a bold brown-striped tabby wandered into his room. This adventurous cat loved peanuts and quickly warmed to William. When I (Cynthia) came to visit, I brought cat food, and we bonded with this new furry friend, naming him Koko.
The very next day, a similar-looking tabby jumped into William’s room. At first, he thought it was Koko, but something felt different. The mystery was solved the following morning when the real Koko showed up! It turned out the second cat was Koko’s sibling — a sandy brown tabby. We named him Coko because his color reminded us of chocolate.
Koko and Coko were our first rescues, and they changed our lives forever. When William moved to Denpasar, we brought them along, officially welcoming them into our little family.
Fast forward to today, and our family has grown significantly! We now care for 9 cats, 6 dogs, 1 turtle, and 1 Muscovy duck — all rescued animals. Each of them has their own story, many of them heartbreaking, but all now filled with love and hope.
Through this blog, we aim to share their journeys and shed light on the challenges and joys of rescuing animals in Bali. We hope you’ll follow along and support our mission to provide these beautiful souls with the life they deserve.
